Yakuza isn’t a game Switch players “expect” on the console.

Yakuza series producer, Daisuke Sato, says the Nintendo Switch is not the “ideal” platform to develop Yakuza games on.

Sato has said that while he might consider releasing the Yakuza games for the Xbox One, the Switch isn’t looking likely, and it’s partially down to the console’s user base.

In an interview with (per Gematsu‘s translation), Sato said that he’s not convinced Nintendo’s console is the right platform on which to develop Yakuza, because “maybe people don’t expect this kind of game on Switch.”

Switch players are possibly “used to different games,” so it may not be the “ideal platform.”

Sato is more open to another platform, however: “Xbox One users may be more likely to be interested in a game like Yakuza”.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 was announced for PlayStation 4 earlier this year, following the release of Yakuza Kiwami last year.

The games are remakes of Yakuza 1 and 2, remastered in the Dragon Engine that was used to create Yakuza 6. You can check out our review of Yakuza Kiwami right here. Yakuza Kiwami 2 is coming to PS4 on August 28.
