Black Ops 4 is getting multiple betas.

Those anticipating Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 can look forward to not just a single beta before the game’s launch. Activision and Treyarch today announced Black Ops 4 will have two betas, the first of which will debut as a timed PlayStation 4 exclusive on August 3.

Dubbed the Private Multiplayer Beta, this initial beta has different dates for all three platforms, including an early access date for the PC version, which will be exclusive to Activision Blizzard’s Battle.net. The dates and times are as follows:

  • PlayStation 4 (August 3 at 10 a.m. PT through August 6 at 10 a.m. PT)
  • PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (August 10 at 10 a.m. PT through August 13 at 10 a.m. PT)
  • PC Beta Early Access (August 10 at 10 a.m. PT through August 11 at 10 a.m. PT)
  • PC Open Beta (August 11 at 10 a.m. PT through August 13 at 10 a.m. PT)

The Private Multiplayer Beta includes six maps, two of which will be debuted through the beta. Players will be able to experience the returning Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, and Search & Destroy modes along with the brand-new Control mode. Control will have teams alternate between attacking and defending a pair of static objective points, with each team having a limited number of lives to expend in their attempt to be the first to successfully defend or capture the points three times.

Treyarch is bringing back Call of Duty’s Pick 10 system for allowing players to customize the classes they create. Also included will be Special Issue Equipment designed exclusively for each Specialist without costing any Pick 10 points. In addition to the returning Nomad and Prophet Specialists, Treyarch will also introduce new specialists with their own gameplay mechanics.

Everyone who participates in the beta will get a unique, displayable calling card, and beta players who reach the maximum rank will earn a permanent unlock token they can use for any piece of Create-a-Class content they choose when Black Ops 4 launches.

Before then, however, Treyarch will hold a second beta that’s entirely focused on the new battle royale-style mode Blackout. The Private Blackout Beta will begin first on PlayStation 4 in September.

“This is an exciting opportunity for us at Treyarch because–not only are we putting more content into players’ hands earlier than ever before–we get to break new ground by hosting two separate Beta experiences,” said Co-Studio Head Dan Bunting in a statement. “Games are better when they’re a result of a dialogue with our community. Not only does it improve the game’s quality, but it allows us to respond to player feedback and custom-craft the experience to how players engage most with the game.”

Call of Duty fans can learn more about the Black Ops 4 multiplayer maps right now, and some fans have gone so far as to try and figure out the Blackout map’s size.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will release October 12 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
